1966 Chevrolet Impala - 327/275 HP V8 Engine Automatic Transmission
For the 1965 model year, Chevrolet's redesigned Impala sold more than one million units on its way to setting an all-time industry sales record that has never been topped. And for the 1966 model year, the Impala was America's second best-selling car with only Ford's iconic Mustang moving more metal. If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about the fundamental appeal of this car's design, I'm not sure what will.
Chevrolet redesigned the Chevelle line for 1966 while the big models (Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala and Super Sport) were lightly facelifted. The new body design featured curved, frameless side glass (for pillarless models), sharper angled windshield with newly reshaped vent windows, and redesigned full-coil suspension. The new 1965 model designs had been done in secret by Chief Designer Irv Rybicki, whose concept was approved despite the fact that GM's board of directors had already given the green light to a previous design. It featured forward-leaning front-end treatment, prominent rear-fender rise, curved side glass and sharp wraparound character line that proved very popular, resulting in only minor revisions for 1966.
The Impala was Chevrolet's most popular model in 1966, with more than 650,000 sold. Most had small-block V8 engines. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-size model through the mid-1980s.
This factory Mist Blue Poly Impala is powered by it's 327/275 HP V8 engine which is backed by an automatic transmission. Common options like power steering and manual brakes are the norm for these 4th generation Impala's. Interior remains stock with only upgrades are a Pioneer AM/FM CD player. The blue vinyl/cloth interior is in great shape and really compliments the exterior. A new dual exhaust system has been recently added and sounds great. This mostly original Impala is riding on Cragar S/S wheels with BFG radial tires. Overall, this Impala is a nice unmolested driver quality car. Great cruise night car that can be enjoyed and get looks wherever it goes.
