1969 Camaro Z28 - Born With Drivetrain DZ 302 4 - Speed 4.10 Rear!

If you're a fan of style, speed and swagger, you simply can't go wrong with the legendary Camaro. One of the cars that practically defined the golden age of Detroit, Chevy's beloved panther has become some of the best-selling muscle of all time. Not surprisingly, demand for these cornerstone classics continues to be strong. The beneficiary of a detailed rotisserie restoration, this real-deal X77 Z/28 is one of the coolest F1s to hit the floor. With an original drivetrain, great sheetmetal and a refreshing aesthetics, it's the perfect turn-key muscle car for anyone who enjoys the hobby to its fullest. And if you're looking for an impressive set of wheels that'll roll straight out of the showroom and right in to the fast lane, it's your next classic!

Not only is this a correctly restored, numbers matching Z/28 which can be shown and driven, it also features a rare Fathom Green and Medium Green color combination that is a refreshing change from the traditional black that adorns most Camaro cockpits. Lastly, Jerry MacNeish, the noted Camaro Z/28 expert, has performed a data analysis of this car and has verified it as completely numbers matching, including: original cowl tag; original VIN tag; original hidden VINs; original engine block; original transmission, and; original axle. Looking for a classic pony car that you can hang on to, enjoy and make a nice return on a few years down the road? This top notch Z/28 is your kind of car!

Take a close look at the body of this striking '69 Camaro and you'll find that it is completely accurate to how it rolled out of GM's Norwood, Ohio assembly plant back in March of 1969. The contoured panels are straight and clean from any angle and good, even gaps suggest that the body shop took its time re-assembling the car and making sure everything was as close to perfect as possible. The metallic GM code 57 Fathom Green paint is deep and glossy, displaying a finish that has been carefully wet sanded and buffed to a show worthy shine. And the bright white rally stripes, which were expertly stenciled and painted during the restoration, are as straight and crisp as the day they rolled out of the paint booth. Many collectors think Hugger Orange and white stripes is the quintessential '69 Camaro color combination; but when you see this Z/28 in person, I think you'll agree that nothing comes close to a well done Fathom Green car!

Under this coupe's flat hood you'll find a 302 cubic inch, original small block that fronts a familiar 3956618 casting number with an original “DZ” assembly stamp. Straight from the factory, Chevrolet's high performance SCCA Mustang slayer utilized high-flow, rectangular-port heads, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods and forged aluminum pistons to twist stout 11 to 1 compression into more than 350 horsepower! At the top of the red-hot mill, a chrome, open-element air cleaner swirls wind in to a correct Winters aluminum intake thanks to a 4053 Holley carburetor. At the sides of that intake, authentic 'double hump' heads hang polished finned valve covers over shielded exhaust manifolds. When fired, the infamous 302 snarls and barks like a real competition piece. Its ancillary components are top-notch in every way, with fresh GM hoses, a cad plated brake booster and a reproduction Delco Energizer accompanying it's rebuilt 837 alternator and era-correct smog equipment. The Harrison radiator keeps things running cool while cruising the summer nights.

Back in 1969, the only transmission you could get with your Z/28 was a tough Muncie 4-speed, and that's exactly what lives behind this car's mean small block. Naturally, that stalwart gear slinger centers a correct 3925660 casting number between a Muncie P9B25B build stamp and matching partial VIN. There's an original BV 4.10 gear 12-bolt rear end with spiral shocks, which rides in a fully rebuilt and correctly tagged suspension that centers between 4-piston, Corvette-style brakes. That suspension is dissected by a beefy, true-dual aluminized exhaust system, which is fitted with a correct, transversely mounted muffler and polished tail pipes. That exhaust system is framed by it's original floors, which are layered in Satin Black paint over gray primer. Those floors roll on 15-inch YH Rally Wheels, which spin Polyglas Wide Tread tires around stainless steel trim rings and correct turbine center caps. And that chassis has, like the car's engine bay, been restored to fully sorted, road-ready condition.

One of the coolest aspects of this '69 Z/28 is the fact that it still sports a highly original GM code 723 Midnight Green interior instead of the everyday black that most Camaro restorers seem to be obsessed with. Interior options include factory high RPM tachometer, center console with gauge package, pushbotton AM/FM radio, chrome Hurst shifter, GM seat belts with shoulder belts, color keyed rubber floor mats, body by Fisher sill plates and only 77k actual miles on the odometer!

This 1969 Camaro Z/28 is built the way many of us would have spec-d our own if were knew then what we know now; and its original numbers matching engine, transmission and rear axle make for a super complete car that is sure to only increase in value. If you're looking for an extremely well done, investment grade Z28 Camaro that is every bit as nice today as when it rolled off the showroom floor, this Z/28 is your car!
