1966 Chevelle Convertible Custom - 454 V8 Big Block Ground Up Restoration!

To answer your question, no it's not a real SS, but it's so amazing in just about every way that you won't even care. This is a very nice Chevelle custom convertible.

Sometimes a guy gets his dream car and goes all-out building it. The budget goes out the window almost immediately, and what follows is a quest to build a car that, until now, existed only in the builder's imagination. We've all followed such dreams, but it's rare to find a car where the dreams have been fully and completely realized. A smokin' 454 cubic inch big block under the hood, gorgeous color combination, a custom bucket seat interior, and power accessories to make the cruise easy. Cars like this just don't come along every day, and when you see one, you need to grab it up before the owner comes to his senses and decides to keep it.

Fortunately, the builder stuck with the basics and aside from the great colors, he stuck with the factory trim and finishes. The chrome is brilliant, with both bumpers featuring a nice mirror finish. The rear panel between the taillights is in true SS style, and reproduction "Super Sport" and "396" badges were installed wherever appropriate. Up front, an SS grille was installed, and the hood features those cool faux vents that look like they should be feeding a pack of velocity stacks instead of a carburetor. The glass, exterior trim, and weather stripping are in good condition as well.

The 396 badges aren't joking, under the hood you'll find a nicely built big block Chevy that has been dressed up for show duty. Features like the Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carburetor, and HEI ignition keep this 454 running great. An aluminum radiator keeps things cool, and long tube headers take care of the 3 inch exhaust system. And it isn't just pretty, it steers and stops great with power steering and power brake accessories. Power is backed up by a 3 speed automatic transmission and 12 bolt rear axle. A set of 17 inch American Racing aluminum rims with radial tires handles the ride. It runs cool, the power accessories work, and it simply goes about its business without any fussing or nursing. Is this the ultimate cruiser? I'm thinking it is.

Inside you will find a custom tan leather bucket seat interior. Features such as a tilt wood steering wheel, AM/FM digital radio, center console with working clock, and 3 gauges to keep an eye performance make this Chevelle a pleasure to drive. A set of GM rubber floor mats, GM seat belts, and correct door sill plates finish off the interior nicely.

Someone spent a good amount of money on this car without worrying about being upside-down on his investment. As a result, you can buy this car for less than it would cost to build your own, and get a turn-key Chevelle convertible that is ready to cruise and show. Big block Chevelles are always attention getters, but this one, with that tuxedo black color combination and detailed engine bay will draw crowds like no car you've ever owned before. Fully sorted, ready to cruise, this is an incredible car that you'll be proud to own.
