In 2002, as Ford grappled to celebrate its 100th anniversary, the company released a number of retrospectively styled cars such as the Mustang and the GT, which heavily resembled the world race dominating GT40 from the 1960s. Another reissue was the Ford Thunderbird, which was styled in the spirit of the original 1955-57 Thunderbirds, but with very modern touches. The body featured a flush-mounted grille and headlight set, driving lights, a tapering beltline and large, circular tail lights. Powered by a 3.9L/280 HP V-8 engine and an automatic transmission, the car also featured bucket seats, a center console, a bevy of power amenities and much more.
